How it all started...
The church began under the leadership of the Reverend M.W. Pendry, Reverend G.P. Goode and Reverend W.H.H. Cook in 1910. The church met off and on in the Old Methodist Church and the Wyoming County Court House which was located on the parking lot of the present-day United Methodist Church. In 1924, under the leadership of Reverend G.P. Goode, Reverend E.I. Hill and Reverend W.W. West, the church was reorganized and began to meet with regularity.
The church has been variously known as: a Regular Baptist Church, the W.H.H. Cook Baptist Church, The Pineville Baptist Church, and the present name, Cook Memorial Baptist Church. The Sunday School was organized after the church was reorganized in 1924.
The present structure of the church was begun in 1940. The Sunday School rooms were added in 1948. Land was added in 1951 and 1952. The church was enlarged in 1956 by adding two stories of new rooms behind the sanctuary. In 1958, the parking lot was filled and paved and the Boy Scout room was added to the basement. The addition to the church, the New Fellowship Hall and Educational Wing, were added in 1982 and were completed in 1990 and 1994.

Expanding the vision...
Recently, the church has expanded once again, adding the Annex Building (the old Sear's building). The downstairs is designated for youth groups, equipped with media and games for gathering times. The upstairs is utilized for our women's community prayer group and other community groups and is available for rent with church approval. The two neighboring buildings are also owned by the church, providing property unity between all four buildings.
Where we are headed...
Cook Memorial Baptist Church is dedicated to continuing to serve its local community. Our Mission projects, food pantry, and senior supper help provide needed services to our area, but we are also always looking for additional means of serving our community while spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Growth within the church, being fishers of men, is and always will be our commission, but we are dedicated to reach people inside the church (Sunday services, Sunday school, classes, etc.) as well as outside our walls (live streaming services, church app, website, Facebook, etc.).
Matthew 28: 18-20 NASB ..."All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
